Windows & Doors Before & After in Little Gables, FL
Photos don’t flatter. They show what actually happened. On this page you’ll see windows and doors we’ve pulled out and what went back in, from single-pane originals in Little Gables bungalows to storm-battered sliders that refused to open. We’d rather show you this than tell you we do good work. The evidence is right here, caption by caption, job by job.

Single-Pane to Impact Windows on a 1960s Little Gables Ranch
The original windows were builder-grade from the Kennedy era. Single pane, aluminum frames, and two wouldn’t lock anymore. The homeowner noticed condensation between the glass and a spike in July cooling costs. We pulled all eight openings, replaced them with PGT impact windows sized for the existing rough openings, and re-trimmed the interiors. The rooms feel quieter and the air conditioning doesn’t run nearly as hard. That’s the part nobody photographs, but it’s the part they notice first.
French Door Replacement With Rot Repair in the Floor Plate
This one started as a door quote and became a small structural repair. The old French door had been leaking for years, and once we pulled it, the floor plate underneath was spongy. We cut out the rot, sistered in new treated lumber, flashed the opening properly, and installed a Therma-Tru French door that closes with one finger. Ed’s rule on this kind of job: we don’t cover up damage and we don’t surprise you with the invoice. The written estimate before we started had a line item for possible rot repair. The final bill matched it.
Patio Slider Swap: From Stuck Track to One-Hand Operation
Sliders in Florida take a beating. Salt air, humidity, and daily use wear out roller tracks faster than most people expect. This one required two hands and a hip check to open. Not great when you’re carrying groceries. We installed a new sliding glass patio door with stainless rollers and a properly pitched threshold. The homeowner told us she nearly fell over the first time she opened it because it moved so easily. That’s the kind of review we like.
Impact Garage Door and Opener on a Corner Lot
Garage doors are the largest opening in most homes, and older ones are often just steel skins with no wind rating. This corner lot catches full east-west wind, and the old door flexed visibly during storms. We replaced it with an impact-rated garage door, installed a new opener with battery backup, and swapped the track hardware. The difference in noise alone is worth mentioning. The old door rattled every time a truck passed. The new one doesn’t.
Geometric Window Replacement in a Custom Gable
Custom-shaped windows are where a lot of contractors flinch. They can’t be ordered from a standard catalog, and measuring wrong means reordering and delaying the job. This gable had four trapezoid windows with failed seals. We measured each opening individually, ordered custom CGI units, and set them in new framing that added proper flashing. Small job, fiddly work, but the kind we actually enjoy. If your house has an arched or angled window that leaks or fogs, that’s a conversation we’ve had before.
Full-Home Window Replacement After a Storm Claim
Storms are the ugliest reason we get called, but they’re also where the difference between a sales pitch and real experience shows up. This homeowner had one window blown out and several others with broken seals from a storm. We worked through their insurance paperwork, documented the damage, and replaced every window on the home with impact units. The new package changes how the house feels in August. Lower heat gain, less road noise, and no more plywood.
