How Winslow Windows & Doors Came to Little Gables

We opened our doors in Little Gables in 2011, but the decision to bring Winslow Windows & Doors to this neighborhood started with a drive down Calle Ocho on a humid August afternoon. Ed Winslow had spent the morning looking at a house off Ludlam Road where a family had been living with a back sliding door that hadn’t sealed properly in three years. The previous company had installed it, collected the check, and stopped answering the phone. Water had been seeping in during every summer storm. The stucco around the frame was starting to stain. The family had called five different companies. Four of them quoted the job without ever touching the door. The fifth showed up, took measurements, and never sent a quote at all.

That was the moment Ed decided this area deserved better. Not better marketing or bigger trucks. Better follow-through. The brand was already established, and its standards were already proven. What Little Gables needed was a local team that would actually show up, be straight about pricing, and treat every opening in a home like it mattered. So we built that team here, one hire at a time, with people who understood salt air, afternoon thunderstorms, and the way aluminum frames bake in a Florida sun. That’s the branch we run today, and that’s the standard we’ve held since the day we opened.

Ed Winslow’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade

Ed Winslow has spent more than a decade in the windows and doors trade, but his connection to the work goes back further than the business itself. His first real memory of caring about how a home is put together came from hanging drywall and framing with a tradesman he worked alongside as a young man. The work was unglamorous. It was hot, dusty, and exacting. But there was a rhythm to it that Ed never forgot: measure twice, cut once, check the level, check it again. The satisfaction wasn’t in finishing fast. It was in finishing right, and being able to stand back and look at a straight line and know you were the one who made it straight.

That feeling never left him. When he moved into windows and doors years later, he found the same quiet reward. There’s a moment on every job when an old, stubborn window finally comes out of its frame, and the light hits the room differently than it did before. You can smell the outside air moving through a space that had been sealed shut for years. You watch a homeowner run their hand along a new sill and realize they won’t have to fight with that window every time a cold front rolls through. That moment is why Ed stays in this trade. It’s not about replacing glass. It’s about changing how a home feels to the people inside it.

If he weren’t doing this work, Ed would probably still be working with his hands. He’s never been the kind of person who could sit behind a desk all day without losing his mind. There’s something honest about physical work, about seeing a problem with your own eyes, fixing it with your own tools, and leaving a job site knowing you’d be proud to have that work in your own home. Winslow Windows & Doors gave him a way to turn that into something bigger than one person on a ladder. It let him build a team that carries the same expectation: do the job the way you’d want it done if it were your mother’s house.

Meet Ed Winslow - The Person Behind Every Job

Ed Winslow is the Owner & Founder of the Little Gables branch of Winslow Windows & Doors. His background is rooted in hands-on construction and finish work, and he’s spent more than a decade applying that experience to windows, doors, and the particular demands of South Florida homes. He knows what a corroded track feels like under a slider. He knows why a door that binds in January might swell shut by August. He’s been on ladders, on knees, and in crawl spaces, and he’d never ask a member of his team to do something he hasn’t done himself.

But what really sets Ed apart is that he still cares about the small stuff. He’s the kind of person who sweeps up before he leaves a job site, who calls a homeowner back the same day, and who believes a handshake still means something. He’s personally committed to every project that carries the Winslow name in Little Gables, and he stands behind that commitment without fine print or footnotes.

Our Promise to Little Gables Homeowners

We promise honest pricing. Every estimate we give is a free, written, line-by-line quote, so you know exactly what you’re paying for and exactly what you’re not. We don’t hide costs in vague categories, and we don’t surprise you with change orders after the work begins.

We promise quality parts from brands we trust, including Therma-Tru, PGT, and CGI. These are products built to handle the humidity, the storms, and the salt air that define life in South Florida. We’d rather install a door that lasts twenty years than sell you one that needs replacing in five.

We promise to stand behind every job. If something isn’t right, we want to know about it. We’d rather come back and make it right than leave a homeowner wondering why they ever hired us in the first place. Our workmanship warranty is real, and we treat it that way.

Our Credentials

Here’s what we bring to every project, and why it matters:

  • State-licensed. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. That means the person working on your home has met real standards, not just shown up with a toolbox.
  • Insured & bonded. Every pro working under our name is required to carry the insurance and bonding their state requires. That protects you and your property if something goes wrong.
  • More than a decade of local experience. Ed Winslow has spent over ten years in this trade, and our team has been serving Little Gables since 2011. We’ve seen how South Florida weather treats windows and doors, and we install accordingly.
  • A strong local reputation. Homeowners in Little Gables, Coral Gables, Miami, and the surrounding neighborhoods trust us because we show up, do the work, and stand behind it. Good work travels by word of mouth here.

Why do these credentials matter? Because you’re inviting someone into your home, often when you’re not there. You should know that the person drilling into your wall or lifting a door into its frame is qualified, accountable, and covered if something goes sideways. That’s not a luxury. It’s the baseline.

Rooted in Little Gables

We work in Little Gables, and we live with Little Gables. We know the streets off Coral Way, the older bungalows with their original jalousie windows, and the newer builds going up where the old lots used to sit. We know how the afternoon storms roll in from the west in the summer, and we know what that means for the seal around a front door. This isn’t a sales territory to us. It’s home. When a homeowner on Alhambra Circle calls about a door that won’t latch, they’re not a number on a dispatch board. They’re a neighbor, and we treat them like one.
