CGI Sliding & Patio Doors: The Little Gables Owner’s Guide

CGI sliding and patio door replacement parts in Little Gables typically run $140-$420 installed for rollers, tracks, handles, and weatherstripping, while full panel or frame work lands between $600 and $1,900 depending on the series and glass package. We stock the most common CGI-compatible parts on our trucks, which means most Little Gables calls are one visit, not two. The usual story we hear: the door was gliding fine for years, then one morning it takes a shoulder to budge, or the lock no longer catches, or the panel grinds across the track like gravel in a hinge. That is the part talking to you. It is not failure yet, but it is a warning.

Winslow Windows & Doors is an independent service provider. We install and service CGI products, but we are not affiliated with CGI or its parent company. That independence is actually useful: we can tell you straight when an OEM part is worth the cost and when a quality equivalent does the same job for less.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI’s sliding glass and patio door lineup in South Florida breaks down into a few families you will recognize from your paperwork: the Estate Collection (heavy extruded aluminum, the premium end), the Sovereign line (mid-range impact-rated, the most common in Little Gables builds from the mid-2000s onward), and the Classic series (older homes, thinner frames, tighter tolerances). Each series uses its own roller assembly and track profile, and mixing them is where we see the most DIY heartbreak. An Estate roller in a Sovereign track will bind within weeks because the roller carriage height is different by about an eighth of an inch.

The fast way to identify your part: look at the glass etching in the corner of the panel. CGI etches the series code and production date right into the glass, usually a two-letter series mark followed by a four-digit date code. If the etching has faded, check the bottom rail of the sliding panel for a white label with the model number stamped in black. Take a picture of that label with the door half-open so we can see the roller profile too. That single photo usually tells us the part number before we even get in the truck.

On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: for rollers and locks on current production series, OEM is the smart money because the tolerances are manufacturer-specific and the failure cost of a mismatch is a dropped panel. For weatherstripping and handles on discontinued Classic series doors, quality aftermarket equivalents are often the only option anyway, and they hold up well if installed correctly. We will tell you which applies to your door before any work starts.

Signs Your CGI Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • The panel is harder to open or close than it was a year ago. This is almost always roller fatigue or bearing wear. In Little Gables’s salt-humid air, steel roller bearings corrode even inside aluminum carriages, especially on doors facing east toward the water.
  • The door makes a grinding or skipping sound. Flat spots on the roller wheels, or track debris that has embedded into the wheel surface. Once it grinds, the track is being damaged along with the roller, and the repair cost goes up.
  • The lock or handle is loose, sticks, or will not fully engage. On CGI doors the lock assembly is a single cartridge, not a repairable unit. For homeowners with an impact-rated door, a lock that does not fully throw is a security problem and an insurance-compliance problem at the same time.
  • Water or daylight shows at the bottom corner when closed. Worn wool pile or fin weatherstripping. Little Gables summer downpours will find that gap and make it expensive fast if the subfloor starts wicking.
  • The panel sits visibly low or high on the track, or the frame looks out of square. On older installs, the track support can settle or the frame screws lose bite. This is not a part swap; it is an adjustment or re-level job. We diagnose it honestly because replacing a roller on an unlevel track just burns your money.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Little Gables, expect ballpark installed pricing along these lines:

  • Roller replacement (both panels): $140-$280, including the rollers, cleaning the track, and adjusting the panel height and alignment.
  • Handle and lock cartridge replacement: $120-$260 for a quality OEM or direct-equivalent part with full function testing.
  • Weatherstripping (sill, jambs, head): $110-$240, using the correct pile density for your series.
  • Track repair or re-bedding: $300-$800 depending on what the subfloor shows us once the track is up.
  • Full panel or frame replacement: $600-$1,900, quoted per door after we measure, not before.

Every price is parts and labor together, written down before we touch the door. If the job runs into something unexpected, you hear about it before the invoice changes. Not after. The workmanship carries our Done Right Promise: if it is not done right, we make it right. Period. Ed Winslow’s name is on the truck, so the work has to be right every time.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: clean the track with a dry brush and a vacuum (never WD-40 on a CGI track, it turns dust into grinding paste), tighten the handle screws with a hand driver, and note whether the rollers have adjustment ports at the bottom of the panel. That is diagnosis, and it is safe. Where DIY goes sideways is the actual panel removal. An impact-rated CGI panel can weigh 180 to 260 pounds, and once you lift it out of the track, it has a mind of its own. A dropped panel breaks glass, bends the frame, or hurts somebody, and the repair bill triples in about four seconds. This is not a roll-up screen door. We have the right lifting rigs, the right roller pullers, and we know how the panel is supposed to come out without fighting the frame. Call (727) 291-4678 if you are anywhere near the point of pulling the panel. The estimate is free, and we would rather spend ten minutes on the phone than watch someone hurt themselves saving $150.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."
